Rihanna steals Katy Perry's U.S. chart record

Bajan beauty Rihanna has overtaken pop songstress Katy Perry as the first artist in the 20-year history of Billboard's Nielsen BDS-based Pop Songs radio airplay chart to score 10 No.1 singles.

Perry previously held the title with 9, but Rihanna has now beaten her record after her track 'Stay', which features Mikky Ekko, climbed to the top spot this week.

The 'Umbrella' superstar first achieved a No.1 single on the Billboard chart back in 2006 with 'SOS' and 'We Found Love' was her last chart-topper in 2011.

Other songs of hers that have hit the coveted position include 'Take A Bow', 'Disturbia', 'Live Your Life', 'Rudeboy', 'Love The Way You Lie', 'Only Girl', and 'S&M'.

She has also notched up an impressive 10 nominations for the upcoming 2013 Billboard Music Awards and has been named a finalist in such categories as Top Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Social Artist, and tweeted about the news today:

"I owe this to my fans and to Billboard! Thank you for the love! It's pretty major! Big ups to the special ones at @RocNation and @DefJamRecords who stay committed to my project!! I truly enjoy & appreciate all your efforts."
