Robin Thicke's wife Paula Patton says she wasn't affected by VMA show

Robin Thicke's wife Paula Patton has stated that her husband's controversial performance at this year's MTV VMAs didn't bother her.

The singer and 'Wrecking Ball' star Miley Cyrus performed together at the August ceremony in Brooklyn, but they raised eyebrows by dancing seductively with each other.

Speaking to E!, Patton admitted that she actually congratulated Thicke on his performance post-show - despite everyone else thinking that she would be upset. The actress said:

"It doesn't affect me anymore at all. It's just so funny, because when I saw him perform I was like, 'you guys killed it!'. We hugged each other, we went out, celebrated. The next day, my cell phone [has] all these texts: 'Praying for you'...'If you need to talk, I'm here'."

Cyrus has largely received the brunt of the VMA criticism, but she told Rolling Stone in a recent interview that she feels there is "double standards" at play due to Thicke getting off lightly.

Thicke and Patton meanwhile married in 2005 after meeting as teenagers. They have one one child, three-year-old Julian, together.
