Indie-Folk enigma Plain Mister Smith is releasing his long awaited debut album ‘I’m Just Plain Mister Smith’. The brainchild of Vancouver based multi-instrumentalist, composer and all round quirky ideas man Mark Jowett, Plain Mister Smith has already established a reputation for his innovative yet accessible songwriting and unique image, often appearing in a pinstriped suit with a big globe for a head. Released via Popoganda Records, the album features appearances from collaborating vocalists Jocelyn Price and breakout Canadian Folk artist Jordan Klassen.

A collection of 9 tracks that span the full width of Plain Mister Smith’s unique atmospheric, breathtakingly beautiful Folk infused Indie-Pop sound, ‘I’m Just Plain Mister Smith’ is a body of work that showcases immense musical depth and a warming heart and soul. Using a range of acoustic and electric guitars, synths, arpeggiators, live bass, strings, live drums and electronics access the album, the dreamy soundscapes are often topped by soft, whimsical and catchy vocal lines creating a series of soundscapes that are as unique and fresh as they are otherworldly.

Often compared to the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Elliot Smith and Death Cab For Cutie, the album's sense of irony, absurdity and humour gives the musical beauty and melancholic tendencies a glowing charm and unquestionable mass appeal.

Speaking about the album, Plain Mister Smith explains: "I'm Just Plain Sister Smith album is a dog's breakfast of lyrical jewels, exploring alien arrivals, self-loathing and delusion, seduction in space, and cat cafes in Osaka. Sonically the music creeps and rolls along and soars too, and sometimes the guitars and strings and keyboards are lush and pastoral, on top of which Jordan Klasen and Jocelyn's Prices' vocals can intermesh and hypnotise. Maybe there's something here for music obsessives, who like their music a little pop but rogue too, where you never quite know what lies around the next sonic corner".
