• Sophie Okonedo, Ardal O’Hanlon and Michael McElhatton voice characters in new Sky Kids animated original, The Ghastly Ghoul

• KIDZ BOP Haunted Halloween, MC Grammar: Halloween Party and Tom Gates: A Monster Halloween also revealed as new one-off specials launching this October

As Halloween begins to creep up on us, Sky Kids has unveiled a new spooky original show, The Ghastly Ghoul (7 October, age 5-7). Starring characters voiced by Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Ted, My Hero), Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda, Æon Flux), and Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones, The Fall), this beautifully animated half hour special sees Gary (O’Hanlon) a cute and vibrant little monster who doesn’t believe he’s scary enough, disguise himself as The Ghastly Ghoul.

The show takes viewers on an eerie, enchanted journey, as Gary leaves Halloween Town and becomes trapped in the human world, where he soon forms a friendship with a young girl Beatrix who is facing her own fears around the spooky holiday. Together they help inspire a sense of self and belief in one another, as they try to find a way to get Gary home again during a Halloween night filled with magic and adventure.

With an aspirational lead female character who is accompanied by her adorable best friend, this show is the perfect trick or treat combination for kids and families alike to feast their eyes upon and enjoy at home this Halloween. The series is produced by multi award-winning studios Lupus Films (The Tiger Who Came to Tea) and Dublin based Dream Logic (The Christmas Letter).

And the line-up doesn’t stop there, as Sky Kids has also revealed three more never seen before originals this October. Renowned for his catchy rap music, MC Grammar’s Halloween Party (14 October, age 5+) is set to get kids watching, singing, and dancing, as the series sees Jacob Mitchell (AKA MC Grammar) take a wrong turn down the road, ending up at a Halloween disco.

KIDZ BOP Haunted Halloween (21 October, 8+) is another spectacular 45-minute special launching, full of kids’ favourite contemporary Halloween-themed pop tunes and dance routines. Also in store and soon to be hitting screens is Tom Gates: A Monster Halloween (24 October, 7+), the first ever Sky Kids crossover as an Animated version of YouTube superstar DanTDM (Let’s Game) guest stars. The show sees Tom and his friends plan the perfect night of trick and treating with some unexpected help from DanTDM, and chilling twists and turns along the way.

And that’s not all, on Sky Cinema this Halloween why not enjoy some of our family-friendly classics such as Monster Family 1 & 2, Scooby-Doo and Little Vampire (2020).

Lucy Murphy, Director of Kids Content at Sky said: “We know kids love Halloween so this year we’re excited to launch new BOO-tiful specials starring some of their favourite characters and bring even more spooky fun to Sky Kids with Gary the adorable Ghastly Ghoul.”
