Sam Smith believes fans are going to 'stay with him' in the future

Sam Smith reckons more people are staying interested in his music.

The singer has shot to global fame over the last year and on Sunday (August 24) he performed at the MTV VMAs in Los Angeles.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the Brit said that whilst the public could potentially take him or leave him, he is remaining positive.

Smith said: "It's early days, everyone could just p*** off and leave me, but I feel like...people are going to stay with me."

He added: "I feel like people are going to stick with me. I hope so."

Speaking on Twitter after the VMAs, Smith said: "Many of my dreams came true tonight."

He added photos of himself rubbing shoulders with the likes of Beyoncé and Katy Perry.
