Sam Smith says seeing a former deaf girl hear his music after gaining hearing was "such an emotional moment".

The singer took to Instagram on Thursday (November 27) to post a picture of himself with a woman called Vera.

She recently had ear implants to cure deafness and the first piece of music she heard was Smith's 'Stay With Me'.

The Brit saw a video of her listening to the track and he wrote on Instagram:

"Such an emotional moment for me tonight. This girl was deaf and after getting implants the first song she heard was 'Stay With Me'.

"They showed me the clip live on TV in Amsterdam and I truly never experienced anything like this. The past few months have been so busy and hectic that sometimes it's easy to forget why I do what I do. Thank you Vera for reminding why I sing and write. So touched and happy right now, and so happy you could hear me say Thank You. All my love x."
