Sam Smith is already leading this year's Grammy nominations.

The awards ceremony are unveiling their 2015 nominees today (December 5) and at the time of writing Smith is up for four categories.

His 2014 debut album 'In The Lonely Hour' is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Smith's hit track 'Stay With Me' is also up for the Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance gongs.

He is also in contention for the Best New Artist prize.

The Brit posted about the nominations on Instagram with a crying face and pictures of the nominees.

The coveted Album of the Year prize meanwhile will be announced during the A Very Grammy Christmas show tonight (December 5).
