Sam Smith: 'GRAMMY nominations mean your work is timeless and I'm honoured'

British superstar Sam Smith was recently nominated for an impressive 6 GRAMMY Awards and has opened up about being recognised in so many categories.

The sensation is up for Best Pop Vocal Album for his 'In The Lonely Hour', Best Pop Solo Performance, Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. Speaking to MTV News about this amazing feat, he admitted that it's overwhelming and such an honour:

"It’s pretty amazing. I just can’t believe I’ve got as many nominations as Beyoncé. For me the GRAMMYs is when they say your song is good or your album is good, it means that they’re saying it’s a timeless piece of work, which is what I’m trying to do and what I tried to do with my record. It’s crazy.”

Jessie J also weighed in on Smith's nominations and praised him for being not only an incredibly talented vocalist, but for being such a great person:

"He can sing and he writes amazing songs. There’s no gimmicks. He is who he is and people see through fake.  I think that people have really warmed to him being so honest in his songs and his music. And he’s an incredible performer live. And he’s a nice guy."

The 2015 GRAMMYs will take place on February 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
