Sam Smith on second album: 'I need to get dumped again so I can write more songs'

British sensation Sam Smith made a huge impact around the world with the release of his debut album, 'In The Lonely Hour', but he has joked that he'll need another heartbreak to write his second record.

Speaking to MTV News recently, the 'Stay With Me' hitmaker explained that another round of unrequieted love would be great for his songwriting although he has already been working on some new material:

“I’m just going to try to fall in love and make them dump me so I can write another record. I always thought I would wait [to write new songs], because I’ve got a long time to go before I’m even going to think of releasing, but I’ve already started writing some songs and have some ideas and stuff."

Earlier this month, Smith told BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe that being heartbroken was a huge inspiration to his creativity: "I think I actually looking back on it, the person I was in love with, I think I forced myself a little bit to be more in love with them in order to write more music."
