Sam Smith: 'I had a lot of one night stands and met some dodgy friends'

British singer-songwriter Sam Smith has opened up about relationships and dating, and confessed that he's had a lot of 'dodgy' one-night stands in the past because he can't find any connections that stick.

Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, the 'Stay With Me' hitmaker explained that he keeps meeting people who don't meet his expectations and he doesn't really see any of them being permanent fixtures in his life.

He confessed that it's hard to be single and wanting a relationship when everything today is so disposable: "I had a lot of one-night stands. I met a few dodgy friends, people I'm definitely not friends with now. I fell in love with a straight guy last year, and he didn't love me back. I got trapped in my own mind."

Smith, meanwhile, recently told Ryan Seacrest that he has been feeling lonely lately and is looking forward to a time where this passes:

"I think everyone has moments of loneliness throughout their lives. You could be married and be the happiest person in the world, but there will be nights you’re alone and wish you were with someone or wish your partner was with you. There will always be lonely moments, I just hope there are less of them than what there has been recently.”
