Sam Smith and John Legend secure midweek No.1 single with 'Lay Me Down' collaborationBritish singer-songwriter Sam Smith has managed to cling onto his No.1 spot on the UK midweek singles chart update this afternoon (March 18) with 'Lay Me Down', his Comic Relief duet with John Legend. The track shot in at No.1 last week and has now retained its lead, beating Years & Years' 'King' at No.2. Rihanna, Kanye West and Sir Paul McCartney's collaborative offering 'FOURFIVESECONDS' is at No.3, Hozier's 'Take Me To Church' has climbed 6 to No.4, and Ellie Goulding's 'Love Me Like You Do' completes the Top 5. Elsewhere on the UK Top 40, Pitbull and Ne-Yo’s 'Time Of Our Lives' enters the at No.28 and Muse’s 'Psycho' climbs into the Top 40 at No.39 after its release last week. MNEK is set to score his first Top 40 as a headline artist with 'The Rhythm', which has made an appearance today at No.26.
