Sam Smith's waxwork changed due to his weight loss

Singer Sam Smith has opened up about his new waxwork at Madame Tussauds in San Francisco and confessed that it's an honour to be celebrated in such a huge way.

Speaking to the Press Association recently, the 'Stay With Me' sensation confessed that sitting for the figure was time-consuming and he had to do it twice due to the fact that he lost a significant amount of weight:

"It took me three to four hours, I had loads of dots on my face and had to stand still in that (the figure's) position."

Smith went onto add that after shedding around three stone in weight (42lbs) he had to go back for adjustments: "And then I lost like three stone after I did the sitting so they had to do another one and then shave off the wax, which is a good problem to have."

As previously reported, the star confessed that he was so excited to be immortalised in wax: "I can't actually believe that I'm going to be in Madame Tussauds. This is the ultimate 'pinch yourself' moment. The process was so fascinating and I will never look at a wax figure in the same way again. Thank you Madame Tussauds, and hope you all have fun. Feel free to squeeze my wax bum!"
