Sam Smith on course to guide James Bond to No.1 for the first time

Sam Smith is set to take a James Bond theme to No.1 in the UK for the very first time.

The singer released the Spectre track 'Writing's On The Wall' last week.

On Monday (September 28) the Official Charts Company confirmed that the tune is sitting at No.1 on the midweek update.

It is selling double the amount of units than its nearest competitor - Justin Bieber's 'What Do You Mean?'.

If the single stays put come Friday (October 2), Smith will have taken a Bond theme to No.1 in the UK for the firs time.

At No.3 on the update meanwhile is R City's 'Locked Away', while Sigala's 'Easy Love' is No.4.

Rounding off the top five is The Weeknd's non-moving 'Can't Feel My Face'.

Nick Brewer is a new entry at No.8 with 'Talk To Me', with Rudimental and Ed Sheeran's new effort 'Lay It All On Me' resting at No.10.

Little Mix's 'Love Me Like You' is a new entry at No.14, while Sia is at No.20 with 'Alive'.
