Sam Smith isn't prioritising romance: 'I just want to hang out'

British singer-songwriter Sam Smith has revealed that he isn't prioritising love and romance anymore.

During an interview with ET Online, the star explained that he isn't as interested in romance now and instead wants to take things slowly and just "hang out": "Before I'd think I'd want it to be more romantic, but I just want to hang out now. That's kind of it, just hang out."

"(It's difficult because) you maybe don’t know people's intentions... At the same time I have never had a boyfriend in my life. So I don't know any different. So that's kind of a blessing I guess."

The star also recently told the BBC's Annie Mac that he still takes inspiration for songs from real-life encounters with dates and that's unlikely to change: "I'd be lying if I said no. Sometimes I'll be lying in bed with someone and think, 'This would be a sick song'."
