Selena Gomez on fame: 'People treat me differently to friends'

Superstar Selena Gomez has revealed that the worst thing about fame is being treated so differently to her friends, who don't work in the public eye.

She called into Boston's The TJ Show on 103.3 AMP Radio this week and opened up about the plans she has made for her upcoming 23rd birthday, which will fall on July 22:

"I think I'm planning a dinner, so I'm going to be with my closest friends. I don't know. I guess I'm at that age where that's what you do, you know? You go to dinner with friends. It's just different."

The 'Good For You' hitmaker went onto talk about being a celebrity and confessed that she lives with two other people who don't work in the entertainment industry and really dislikes how people treat them in comparison to her:

"My roommates that I live with are not in the business. One is a realtor and another one works for a nonprofit, and so I think when I'm in social settings and I'm with my friends and everybody treats them differently, it's very uncomfortable because they're my best friends and I live with them. It's so crazy to see. An entire room will kind of just get weird about it. I don't like that."

"I don't like how people are treated differently... like when we're at dinner and people will come up will say something and maybe I've never even met them before, but they just won't treat my friends the same."
