Selena Gomez on strength: 'My songs on this record are survivors'

Singer Selena Gomez has revealed that being the target of body-shaming really upset her, but she managed to channel her emotions into songwriting and dealt with her feelings about it in that way.

Speaking to Extra recently, the beauty explained that she received lots of negative comments about her body while on vacation in Mexico and that had a really negative impact on her. She ended up being able to use that as fuel for lyrical content and admitted that the songs on her new album, 'Revival', are about her fighting spirit:

"I was getting a lot of hate for my body and gaining weight, and I was in Mexico and I was just feeling all of this stuff and I would be lying to you if I said it didn’t kind of hurt my feelings, but I kind of channelled that into my music."

"I felt like everybody was saying so much and I’m like, 'I need to say something...' My songs on the record are survivors - Kill 'em with Kindness, Rise. It’s all geared towards me trying to be heard and I think this is the best thing that I’ve ever done in my whole career and I’m so excited."
