Selena Gomez believes she is now "coming into her own" as an artist and a person.

The singer released her second solo album 'Revival' on Friday (October 9).

Speaking to Billboard, the US star suggested that the record is a metaphor for an upsurge in her self-esteem and confidence.

Gomez said: "It's almost like a metamorphosis. I feel like I'm coming into my own.

"I've been through stuff and I think that it's been able to test me as a person. And I feel like I'm in charge of everything.

"It's my time to just stop and say this is my perspective on where I am. I can't make everyone happy. I need to learn to love myself first."
