Selena Gomez: 'Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato have their identities'

Selena Gomez believes her fellow Disney peers Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato have now realised their own "identity".

The three singers and actresses all were involved in Disney franchises as kids.

However, in the past few years Cyrus has shed her Hannah Montana image, while Lovato's upcoming album 'Confident' cuts a new-found swagger.

Speaking to Refinery, Gomez said that she and her friends are now treading their own path in life.

She said: "Everyone has found their identity in a really interesting way. We didn't come out as these robots that looked and dressed the same.

"We had to go through our own s**t. At the end of the day, it's respecting every female artist's choice in how she expresses herself, because that's what she wants."

Gomez previously starred in the Disney series Wizards of Waverly Place, while Lovato found fame in the Camp Rock films.

The former meanwhile released her new album 'Revival' on Friday (October 9) and it is expected to reach No.1 in the US.
