Selena rep denies horse cruelty

Selena Gomez found herself amidst a wave of criticism yesterday (May 20) after fellow singer P!nk tweeted her scorn over Gomez’s new video, which features horses painted pink.

P!nk saw the horses in Malibu unknowing of whose video they were being painted for, and quickly took to Twitter, writing: "If there are any animal activists around Malibu – at Leo Cabrillo State Beach, there are horses being painted for a stupid music video. Shame."

She added: "Artists should be more aware and responsible for their actions."

However, a rep for Gomez has quashed rumours of animal cruelty, saying that there was no harm done to the animals.

A statement to People magazine said: “"It was important to the Production Company, Record Label and Ms. Gomez that no animals were harmed and all proper precautions were taken. A non-toxic, vegetable based powder paint was applied via an airbrush and removed with water. An official from the Humane Society was on set supervising."
