Selena Gomez has revealed something of a crush on One Direction.

The US star and the British-Irish group attended the MTV VMAs in Brooklyn on Sunday (August 25) with both acts picking up gongs.

Gomez won the coveted Best Pop Video award and speaking to the BBC, she said that she was busy looking at presenters One Direction when her name was called out by the boyband - much to her surprise. The singer said:

"I am watching the boys, beautiful One Direction, who are not bad to look at, then they said my name. I looked at Taylor [Swift] - it was surreal."

One Direction meanwhile won the Song of the Summer award for their 'Best Song Ever' clip.
