Shane Filan doesn't think Westlife and Boyzone will tour together

Shane Filan has poured cold water over suggestion that Westlife and Boyzone could tour together.

Rumours of the two Irish groups working together have emanated for months.

However, they intensified recently after Boyzone's Shane Lynch posted a photo of the two bands together alongside the text:

"Maybe it's time to join forces and do one of the biggest tour's we have ever seen... #‎justsaying."

However, Westlife's Filan is pessimistic about the chances of a tour.

He said: "I don't think that's a possibility to be honest.

"I heard something about it on Twitter, I just don't think that's ever going to happen.

"In no bad way, I know all the lads in Boyzone, they're all sound lads, I've known them for years, we did our first support tour with them, but I don't think joint tours...I can't see that ever happening."

The two boybands have previously performed live together, including as a tribute to the late Boyzone star Stephen Gately in 2010.

Westlife split in 2012, while Boyzone are currently active.
