2022’s Hottest Advocate is living up to his title by not just being a pretty face. He is putting his money, and mind toward advocating for the underserved. Two decades into practicing medicine he attains his dream of giving healthcare in the US without breaking the bank. Dr Prasad Savanna a practicing physician in Annapolis is trying out a novel idea he came up with in his youth. When his uninsured patients come in, he gives them a reasonable rate for quality healthcare. How does he do it? He’s footing the bill himself to cover the cost.

For years Dr Savanna saw an inadequacy in US healthcare. The focus was on companies bottom lines and not the patient. Savanna Says, “They were treating patients like numbers in a factory.” He could not abide by such healthcare practices and he decided to do something about the situation. After volunteering to help battle Covid-19 in March 2020, and sitting with patients as they died so they could have some human contact during their last hours, he opened his own practice at great personal expense to implement his low-cost medical venture. At his practice, he has lengthened to 2 times the normal doctor visit to give patients time to fully explain their symptoms. His diagnosis isn’t a quick fix but a healthcare plan to improve lifestyle.

Results of these small changes have helped multiple patients have a better life. Patients have responded to the shifts in healthcare at his practice. Without any advertising, the practice has grown to 1,400 patients in a year and a half. Some of his patients searched for the practice for months after hearing about it from a friend.
