Sia: 'I was an alcoholic and a drug addict and fame was destabilising'

Songstress Sia recently went for a drive with James Corden for his Carpool Karaoke segment and opened up about her decision to keep her face hidden from the mainstream media.

The 'Chandelier' sensation, who appeared in a wig, explained that she wants to retain the little privacy she has and also create an illusion of mystery, which is something pop music is mostly devoid of:

“I only wear this just to try and maintain a modicum of privacy. I was a singer already for 10 or 11 years to mediocre success. I was an alcoholic and a drug addict and I sobered up and decided I didn’t want to be an artist anymore because I started to get a little bit famous and I was destabilising in some way."

“So I decided what didn’t exist in pop music at this moment and it was mystery. I mean there’s pictures of everyone on Instagram at the dentist!"

She went onto talk about her belief in aliens, adding: "I only believe in them because I watched a video of the ex Canadian minister of defence just saying plainly that he knows for a fact that the American government are working with five different alien races and my blood ran cold. I was like, that guy is the ex minister of defence. He's not just some guy on YouTube! I've never seen an alien..." she added. "Or maybe I have - maybe they're just among us!"
