Nick Celino Releases New Single "Drowned"

Conjuring images of abandoned swimming pools and the cold, rugged coastline near his hometown of Newcastle in northern England, Nick Celino’s new single “Drowned” is a ballad fit for the most delightfully overcast of British days. The record begins with the rumble of distant thunder, and as the rain starts to fall, so do the unique tones of Nick’s memorable vocal over a sea of ramshackle upright piano keys. His voice is immediately recognizable in its deep James Blake rumble, and fittingly, gives the illusion of being underwater at times. The juxtaposition of Nick’s strange sound over an overtly old school piano ballad gives us a sense of his aesthetic – modern delivery of a classic song.

At only 19 years of age, Nick has an emotional depth in his voice found in few others, often lending itself to comparisons with contemporaries like Lorde. He has gained status as an underground cult celebrity in Newcastle due to his recent appearance on Britain’s Got Talent and also for his outlandish hairstyle, which would best be described as extremely large. Receiving rave reviews from the likes of Jools Holland, Simon Cowell, and others, his artistic prowess is receiving even more attention than his look. With the release of his original song “Drowned”, Nick jumps into the deep end musically and shows the listener that his amazing voice is more than just a ship in the night.

Silver Scream Records was started in 2014 by former Lana Del Rey producer/songwriter Sterling Fox as a singles’ label with the aim of supporting unique and exceptional artists in their endeavor to release their own music. It is based in New York City, and “Drowned” is our first release from Nick Celino. The song is released worldwide on 11/17/2014
