Simon Cowell launches new 'DJ' talent contest

Music mogul Simon Cowell has announced details of a brand new online-only, US-based competition that will seek to find brand new talent in the electronic music world in the form of a fresh DJ/producer.

Developed by SyCo, 'Ultimate DJ' will see contestants facing challenges in production and mixing, and and viewers will be able to vote for their favourite acts via different social media outlets.

Speaking in an official statement about the DJ talent contest, Cowell explained that he's really excited about its launch: "We have been developing this concept for a while but our partnership with SFX has been a real game-changer for this format."

He added: "It made complete sense for us to collaborate with SFX with their access to the best up-and-coming DJs and their great marketing platform to build new DJ talent. And I’m delighted to have T-Mobile on board with their brilliant vision and innovation.”

Cowell is yet to announce the official launch date for 'Ultimate DJ' and hasn't revealed how involved he will be with the project on a front-line basis, but he will return to Britain's 'The X Factor' for the upcoming new season.
