Simon Cowell has revealed his surprise at hearing of Cheryl Cole's marriage.

As previously reported, the singer recently revealed that she tied the knot with Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini on July 7 at Mustique beach in a surprise ceremony.

The event took the public by surprise and also many who know Cole, including her X Factor colleague and boss Simon Cowell.

He took to Twitter to congratulate the couple, saying:

"I still can't believe my lil buddy Cheryl got married. Had no idea. He is a great guy. Am very happy for them."

The wedding marks Cole's second marriage, with the singer previously tying the knot with Ashley Cole before divorcing in 2010.
