Simon Cowell promises 'respectful' Ultimate DJ show

Simon Cowell says his new Ultimate DJ TV show will treat electronic music with "respect".

The media mogul confirmed on Twitter that the project now has the backing of Yahoo and Ultra.

The idea of the show - which aims to showcase "incredible electronic talent" - has been panned by the likes of Fatboy Slim and Gorgon City.

However, Cowell promised that the TV show will treat electronic music fairly.

He said: "We made an announcement today for a show with Yahoo. The Ultimate DJ. We have partnered with Ultra.

"The show is intended to showcase the incredible talent that electronic music has shown the world. It will be made with respect."

Steve Aoki will act as a judge on the programme, with the winner landing a headline spot at a electronic music festival a record contract with Ultra Records and Sony Music.
