For Immediate Release: April 1, 2019

Juno nominated Canadian Inuit pop artist Kelly Fraser has released an EDM single called “Rebound Girl.” The English language song, added to Sirius XM Indigenous People Channel, was released to CHR radio across Canada. “It is the 2019 break up song of the year!” exclaims Fraser.

“Rebound Girl” was written by Fraser in collaboration with Marc Meriläinen (Nadjiwan) and Aqqalu Berthelsen aka DJ Uyarakq. The song is a journey through a love gone sour where she warns the “Rebound Girl” to leave before she ends up in the loony bin. Filming of the music video will take place on April 11th during her show at the Palomino in Winnipeg. The video will be released on April 22nd.

Originally, from Sanikiluaq Nunavut, Fraser first gained notoriety in the Arctic for translating pop covers into her native language of Inuktitut. Nominated for the 2018 Indigenous Album of the Year Juno Award for her second album Sedna, her original music plays on radio across North America. Fraser is one of twelve Indigenous people to win a 2019 Indspire Award for their achievements. The awards are televised on CBC and APTN June 23rd at 8 pm.

Fraser is currently recording her third album Decolonize, which will be released in the fall of 2019.
