THE CREEPING BENT ORGANISATION - 25 YEARS

‘Things Are Tough, We Can Still Picnic’

LIVE DATE - CCA, GLASGOW - 1ST FEBRUARY 2019

PORT SULPHUR
GARETH SAGER & THE HUNGRY GHOSTS
THE PLASTIC YOUTH

Port Sulphur and Gareth Sager & The Hungry Ghosts will both play their first live shows as part of this year’s Celtic Connections festival line up at the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) in Glasgow on Friday the 1st of February 2019.

Celebrating twenty five years of the Creeping Bent label, the ‘Things Are Tough, We Can Still Picnic’ night will also feature a set from Glasgow based jangle -pop quartet The Plastic Youth.

Gareth Sager & The Hungry Ghosts and Port Sulphur are firm favourites with BBC 6Music and Radio Scotland and have recorded several live sessions for the stations. Gareth Sager is best known for being a member of The Pop Group and Rip Rig and Panic and has recently completed his Creeping Bent Triptych with the release of the ‘Juicy Rivers’ album to great acclaim (including being in MOJO’s albums of the year).

Port Sulphur is an avant-rock collective operating under the aegis of Douglas MacIntyre. Their debut album - ‘Paranoic Critical’ - featured collaborations with many stalwarts of the post-punk scene (Davy Henderson, Jock Scot, James Kirk, Alan Vega, Vic Godard) and some of Glasgow’s new breed centred at Green Door studio (S.J.Smith, Erik Sandberg, Katy Lironi, Graham Wann). The new album ‘Valentino’s’ is set for release in February and is directly inspired by the distressed ambient drone of Edinburgh’s bars and hugely influential club scene from around 1980 / 81.

Opening the evening will be THE PLASTIC YOUTH, who have recently released their debut single ‘Sweet Dreamer’ to BBC 6Music acclaim on Riverside Music College’s Little Tiger label.

THE CREEPING BENT ORGANISATION was launched by Douglas MacIntyre 25 years ago with a maxi-media show (A Leap Into The Void) at Glasgow’s Tramway.
