Sony/ATV Extends Worldwide Publishing Deal With Noel Gallagher

Sony/ATV Music Publishing has extended its worldwide deal with songwriter and recording artist Noel Gallagher.

The new agreement continues a relationship dating back more than two decades and covers his entire catalog, including Oasis classics such as “Wonderwall”, “Don’t Look Back In Anger” and “Champagne Supernova” and his work with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Sony/ATV U.K. Managing Director and President, Worldwide Creative Guy Moot said: “I am delighted we have been able to extend our agreement with Noel who to this day remains a key British songwriter and artist 23 years after the initial release of Definitely Maybe. We look forward to continuing to work with him and Marcus and Alec at Ignition Management.”

Noel Gallagher is one of the most influential and successful UK songwriters and recording artists of all time and was described by legendary Beatles producer Sir George Martin as “the finest songwriter of his generation”.

Born just three days before the release of the Fab Four’s seminal album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Gallagher had a profound influence on shaping British music in the 1990s and beyond, firstly with the band Oasis and then with a hugely-successful solo career.

Since the end of Oasis he has scored UK No. 1 albums with his new group Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ self-titled debut and its successor Chasing Yesterday.

Besides “Wonderwall”, which has been covered by acts as diverse as Paul Anka, Ryan Adams and JAY-Z, a number of Gallagher songs have been successfully interpreted by other artists, including Aerosmith (“Champagne Supernova”), Counting Crows (“Live Forever”), Foo Fighters (“Lyla”), Leona Lewis (“Stop Crying Your Heart Out”) and Rod Stewart (“Cigarettes And Alcohol”).

With Oasis he scored eight UK No. 1 albums and eight No. 1 singles as well as recording a host of much-loved “B” sides. He also received a number of honours with the group, including six BRIT Awards, while was recognized in two successive years as Songwriter Of The Year at the Ivor Novello Awards. At the 2013 Ivors he was presented with the Outstanding Song Collection award.
