GEORGE THE POET NEW SINGLE WAKE UP AVAILABLE NOW

THE SEARCH PARTY TOUR AUTUMN 2016

George The Poet releases single Wake Up on 28th October. Arguably the most layered song he has ever made, Wake Up documents the highs and lows of being single, the work/life balance we all struggle with, raging hormones, trust issues and the commitment conundrum. “It's got it all.” Says George. “I hope it puts a smile on the face of anyone who has been through it. Everything is temporary".

This Autumn will also see the Brit-nominated poet hit the road this Autumn with The Search Party Tour. The headline nationwide UK tour kicks off in Bristol (at the Everyman Cinema) on 13th October and from there will travel to Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham before wrapping up in London (dates listed below).

Following his 2015 sold out headline tour, alongside the release of his debut collection of poetry, the spoken word performer is back with his sharpest, wittiest and most entertaining offering to date. The Search Party Tour is a live mix of storytelling and satire, delivered in George's innovative style of musical theatre. Tim Minchin meets Russell Howard in this hour-long performance, centred on the theme of Sustainable Development, and backed by George’s own band, The Compozers.

"The Search Party Tour is based on the idea that a socially motivated artist can team up with their audience and fix real problems.” says George. “As a poet, I can articulate and advocate, but the next step would be to activate - to give my listeners the information and means to create change."

Through an array of characters and scenarios portrayed in the George The Poet's arresting new material, the audience is invited to explore some of the most pressing issues of our time, ranging from mental health to climate change. The show calls for better dialogue between government, industry and media, in addition to greater public engagement, as reflected in its interactive element (a new dimension of George's highly anticipated return to the stage).

George The Poet is one of the most unique new artists to emerge in the UK in recent years, with his socio-political street-savvy verse having attracted the attention of music artists, actors, politicians and royalty alike. He has featured on Labrinth, Emile Sande, Wretch 32, Paolo Nutini and Naughty Boy records, collaborated with Idris Elba and supported Nas and Common on tour. He has sold out numerous headline shows, made frequent broad-ranging festival appearances (from Glastonbury to Cambridge Literary Festival), and dropped a string of critically acclaimed releases - including singles 1,2,1, 2My City, and The Chicken and the Egg EP. All in addition to publishing his ground-breaking first book Search Party, and regularly appearing on the BBC, Channel 4 and Sky TV.

Wake Up is available now to download from iTunes and to stream across all platforms
