29th May 29, 2020, London – Rising educator of Future Funk, Yung Bae brings “Bad Boy” to its biggest form featuring multi-platinum selling, Grammy and Golden Globe nominated recording artist Wiz Khalifa, Rising “Young Pop God” (GQ) MAX and rapper bbno$ today via Arista Records. Listen BELOW. Yung Bae mesmerizes his listener with an intoxicating blend of the traditional and the modern, falling somewhere between smooth jazz, funk, old school hip hop, and Studio 54 disco.

Yung Bae said, “I actually met bbno$ on an American Airlines flight and he was sitting next to me. I had my computer open working on a song, and he asked what I was working on, so I played it for him. He immediately started rapping over it mid-flight lol. Two weeks later I booked a flight to Vancouver to make ‘Bad Boy’”.

“This song is gonna go up!”, said Wiz Khalifa.

bbno$ said of the track, “When we were starting to write the song me and Yung Bae decided to rent this random house in the woods in Vancouver to break writers block. About a day in, the power cut out halfway through the session and we couldn’t reach the owner. We decided to hit Lowe’s and get a generator and said we wouldn’t leave until we finished the perfect song. Two weeks later we had ‘Bad Boy’”.

MAX stated, “Been obsessed with this song since it came out. When Bae and bbno$ texted me to jump on, was a no brainer to throw something vocal on”.

The original “Bad Boy” track featuring bbno$ & Billy Marchiafava has over 30 million streams across all digital platforms. The song was viewed with over 2 Billion impressions across 1 Million videos on TikTok and went to #1 on Spotify’s ‘Internet People’ playlist, amongst others. Viral videos set to “Bad Boy” were also featured on Upworthy and Popsugar.

“Portland producer Yung Bae is beloved for his future funk style that set disco strings and retro samples to energized bpms.”- Billboard

“The project features songs through a retro-futuristic electronic lens that pays homage to disco, funk, R&B, Japanese ‘City-Pop’, hip-hop, and pop,”- Hypebeast

Throughout his extensive catalog, now spread across 6 albums and a collection of EPs and B-Sides, Yung Bae heralds the rise of Future Funk, stewarding the sub-genre from its niche underground internet culture into a cult-like phenomena.

Starting in 2014, Yung Bae has taken the genre and its associated subculture from the depths of Tumblr memes (heavily rooted in Anime, 90s web design, glitch effects and a healthy dose of soft consumerism satire) to global festival stages and world headline tours.

His catalog includes Bae 5, B4E, Skyscraper Anonymous, BA3, BAE 2, a collection of EPs and B-Sides, and his debut, Bae. The inspiration behind his music is often drawn from chillwave acts like Neon Indian, rock bands like The Doobie Brothers, DJs like Madlib, 90s hip-hop, and unsurprisingly “anybody who’s touched funk”.

He still dedicates hours daily to digging the internet for obscure samples, always challenging himself to push the envelope creatively. After years of experimenting and honing his craft, his passion and commitment to music remains unwavering. Now Yung Bae is seen playing global festival stages and world headline tours. He is set to release new music this Summer.
