Eelke Ankersmit turns over a new leaf with Secondhand Smoke

Dutch singer/songwriter Eelke Ankersmit has grown since the release of his first EP Old Friend. On Secondhand Smoke we can hear his progression towards a full rock sound, like in the heydays of R.E.M., Buffalo Tom and The Lemonheads. What has remained is the fragility and beautiful songwriting about personal life.

Eelke Ankersmit is known as the former frontman of band The Rag Trade. After an album with unanimously positive reviews, live-performances on Dutch national radio as well as several festival gigs, he released his solo debut EP Old Friend. He finished his studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with an A+ and won the Dutch pop song competition for singer-songwriters and (semi)acoustic acts, ‘Mooie Noten 2016’, focusing on composition, lyrics and musical presentation. Previous singles were featured on Dutch national radio, got airplay from Scotland to Luxemburg and were picked up by Spotify Spain.

Secondhand Smoke is being released under new TCBYML sub-label BERT, dedicated to young musical talent. BERT was launched in 2016 and was created especially for Dutch artists and bands. BERT is exciting, challenging, new, enterprising, a feeling, a friend, full of idealism, adventurous and honest.

Secondhand Smoke is released this week and available for purchase/streaming on all known digital platforms.
