With every release J-Onyx ups the levels and she ends 2021 on a high with her compelling scorcher ‘Hood Stuff’. Striking attention with her distinctive deep toned and robust flows she teams up with esteemed producer Ty Metronome, who lays down the synth fuelled beat. ‘Hood Stuff’ possesses a drill undertone whilst splashing elements of grime energy, which is laced with J-Onyx’s air of natural confidence. To coincide with the audio release the music video dropped on the 22nd of November via GRM Daily. Pertaining a level of mystery with her identity hidden and face disguised, she continues to allow the music to speak for itself.

Following in succession of singles ‘Chop The Bummies’ and her debut single ‘Can’t F With’ J-Onyx hasn’t diluted the momentum, instead she has ignited a path that has led her to be noticed by tastemakers in the music scene. She’s landed radio support from national and international radio stations such as BBC 1Xtra, Capital XTRA, KISS FM and Apple Music. She’s also been championed by gatekeepers GRM Daily who premiered the music videos for ‘Chop The Bummies’ and ‘Can’t F With’. The South London resident also appeared on Notion who described her as having a ‘natural gift for rhythms and flows’ and Wonderland who featured J-Onyx as their ‘New Noise’ artist.

To see where she is now, all in the space of 5 months since her debut release, it’s hard to believe that her career blossomed by the serendipitous decision to put out a freestyle. Testing her skills amongst her friendship group she later went onto share her talent across social media with off-the-top-of-the-head freestyles. Garnering attention within the rap circuit she organically gained attention from KISS FM Hip Hop legends DJ Shortee Blitz and DJ MK.

An artist to watch out for in 2022 she has an exciting year ahead of her. She’s set to drop her upcoming EP #whoisjonyx, which has been picked up by distributor Graduation, who are also on board and distributing ‘Hood Stuff’. Carving a unique sound of her own J-Onyx is set to step into 2022 accelerating further the buzz surrounding her name.
