The BRIT Awards 2020 with Mastercard today announce details of 'The BRITs Are Coming' TV special which will air on Saturday 11th January 2020 on ITV.

The one-hour show will be hosted by acclaimed broadcaster and presenter Alice Levine and will exclusively reveal the much anticipated nominations for the 40th BRIT Awards, reflecting on yet another incredible year for British and international music.

Alongside the shortlist reveal for Best Male/Female, Best New Artist, Best Group, Song of the Year, International Male/Female, and the highly sought-after Mastercard Album of the Yearaward, 'The BRITs Are Coming' will feature exclusive performances by some of the UK's most exciting music acts: Liam Payne, Mabel, Aitch, Freya Ridings and Dermot Kennedy.

Alice Levine said:

"I am so excited to be hosting 'The BRITs Are Coming' launch show! I've watched the BRITs ever since I was a kid, it's such a great night, and to be part of the celebrations for the 40th BRIT Awards show is an incredible feeling. I can't wait to find out who has been nominated in 2020."

The BRIT Awards Official Voting Academy, which identifies the shortlists for the nine categories that will be presented in the main televised show (apart from Rising Star which is a different panel), has until Tuesday 17th at 5.00pm to cast their votes, with the full nominations revealed on 11th January. These shortlists will reflect the success stories and stand-out moments of the past year in music - to be nominated for a coveted BRIT is a huge achievement and milestone in the career of both British and international artists and musicians.

Liam Payne is no stranger to The BRITs having won seven awards as part of One Direction, and was nominated last year for his UK Top 10 duet with Rita Ora, 'For You' which they performed on the 2019 show together. The platinum-selling singer has sold more than 18 million singles in just two years as a solo artist - including 'Stack It Up' featuring A Boogie wit da Hoodie, 'Strip That Down' featuring Quavo, 'Bedroom Floor' and 'Familiar' with J Balvin, and has been streamed a total of 3.8 billion times. He released his debut album 'LP1' earlier this month.

2019 has seen Mabel take her place as one of the UK's biggest pop stars. Having spent weeks in the UK top three, global hit 'Don't Call Me Up' is the biggest selling single of the year by a UK female artist (with 'Mad Love' also in the annual Top 10), having surpassed 1 million sales and led to Mabel's debut album, 'High Expectations', charting at number three this summer. At just 23years-old, Mabel already has a gold-selling album/mixtape, four platinum-selling singles, a silver-selling album, two gold singles and two further silver singles to her name. Whether tackling a toxic breakup ('Don't Call Me Up'), experiences of depression and anxiety ('OK (Anxiety Anthem)' or the harsh realities of Christmas (on recent track 'Loneliest Time of Year'), Mabel's special gift is her ability to draw power in times of vulnerability, an attitude that has allowed Mabel in her career thus far to move effortlessly between the worlds of music, fashion, and pop culture.

Hailing from New Moston in North Manchester, 20 year-old MC Aitch is undoubtedly one of the biggest success stories this year. His first track "Straight Rhymez" was uploaded to YouTube and has now garnered over 15 million views, being credited as the video that propelled him into the limelight. Since then Aitch has gone on to make a solid mark on the scene nationally, his video for 'Taste (Make It Shake)' has accrued 23 million views, and at one stage, he had four songs in the UK Official Chart Top 10 at one time. With his talents recognised across the board and support from the likes of Stormzy, Ed Sheeran and more, Aitch has set the pace and placed himself at the forefront of a new wave of energy on the Manchester music scene. With an ever-expanding fanbase, infectious energy and unrivalled flow, Aitch is a force to be reckoned with.

Freya Ridings made a huge breakthrough when her platinum-selling hit 'Lost Without You' became a regular fixture in the Top 10 - now amassing over 200 million streams with this track alone and 1.6 million single sales in total, Freya's career has remained stratospheric throughout 2019. She scored another hit with the Silver-certified 'Castles' ahead of her self-titled debut album which shot into the charts at number three and since had over 300 million streams. Freya was also tipped by numerous high profile names as varied as Taylor Swift, Florence Welch and Richard Quinn. Following headline tours and major festival sets including Glastonbury, The Isle of Wight Festival and a sold-out show at London's Eventim Apollo, she will begin 2020 with a headline tour of mainland Europe.

Since the release of his April 2017 EP, 'Doves and Ravens', and follow-up single 'Moments Passed', Dermot Kennedy has shot to over 800million plays on streaming platforms and has won praise from the likes of TIME Magazine and The Guardian to British GQ and The Times. At the start of 2019 Kennedy was included by the BBC's Sound Of, YouTube, Ticketmaster and MTV Push as a key artist to watch for 2019 and since then has had a UK number one album with his debut 'Without Fear', a Top 10 single with track 'Outnumbered', headlined Brixton Academy and the Eventim Apollo (twice) and sold over 160,000 live tickets worldwide. He's appeared on the likes of Jonathan Ross, The Ellen Show and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and is due to headline Alexandra Palace in London next April before playing four huge outdoor concerts across Ireland during the summer.

Alice Levine's career stretches across many genres and she has a wealth of experience presenting live television, comedy and factual shows. From regular hosting duties such as The BRIT Awards – which she has co-hosted the ITV2 coverage for the last three years – and the BAFTA red carpet as well as fronting flagship shows for major broadcasters, it's clear that Alice is one of the most in-demand presenters of the moment.

Alice is also a co-creator of the podcast 'My Dad Wrote A Porno' which has now amassed over 210 million downloads to date, two worldwide sell out tours and a live comedy special for HBO.

The BRIT Awards 2020 with Mastercard takes place Tuesday 18th February at The O2 Arena in London, exclusively broadcast on ITV and hosted by Jack Whitehall.
