The Vamps praise Twitter for their rise to fame: 'It was mental in America thanks to social media'

Rising stars The Vamps have revealed that social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter have been hugely beneficial in generating a global fanbase and getting their name out to as many people as possible.

When asked if they get recognised in countries outside of their native UK by the Birmingham Mail, member Brad Simpson explained that they're starting to and they think it's down to social media pages raising their collective profile on an international scale:

"It was weird in America, it was absolutely mental on the other side of the pond and shows how the internet and social media has helped raise our profile over there, which is great as we all met through social media in the first place.”

The 'Last Night' heartthrob went on to add that while they're enjoying their rise to fame, they're trying not to let the bad side of celebrity life get to them so are keeping focused on the things that make them happy:

"Having the opportunity to travel the world, putting out music puts it into perspective. Our priorities for now are staying best mates, enjoying what we are doing, seeing our families and keeping our team around us. We are trying not to have any negative thoughts at all."

As previously reported, Simpson went on to confess that he recently got mobbed on a night out back at home, which has made him wary of becoming a music star because he really values being able to lead a 'normal' life: "I went out in my home town but I just had people coming up to me. I just want to chill out with my mates either in their car or around their houses. I just want to come home and be a normal guy."
