The Vamps Apologize for Fifth Harmony Comments: ‘We would never say a bad word about them’

British pop-rock band The Vamps have apologized for making a series of awkward comments about Fifth Harmony's Lauren Jauregui earlier this week in a new interview with Shazam Top 20.

The comments in question were made by the lads when frontman Brad Simpson was asked if he was still dating 5H's Lauren and they deflected it by joking that they have all 'had a bit of a go'.

Naturally, this offended the girls and their fanbase alike and a Twitter war broke out last night over the remarks.

Now, The Vamps have clarified the comments in a new interview and told Shazam Top 20 that they were simply offended at having their private lives intruded into so decided to use humor, which the have now said sorry for, to answer the query with:

"We have the utmost respect for those girls. We toured with them in the summer and we got to know them, and they're the most incredibly talented, lovely girls. We would never want to put out the image that we would even think of saying a bad word about them."

Brad Simpson continued: "In interviews, we get asked a lot of questions about our personal lives and we're quite private so we try to deflect the questions with humor. That usually helps because then we're not giving out too much - just to retain some privacy [...] huge apologies..."
