The Vamps' James on band's growing success: 'I need to up my game'

James McVey, of The Vamps fame, has revealed that he feels as though he always wants to improve his skills as a musician thanks to the growing popularity of his band and never gets complacent.

During a recent interview with Glasgow's Evening Times, heartthrob James McVey explained that he still can't get his head around the success he and the other lads have achieved together as it feels like a dream:

"It's quite weird, because I don't think it's hit us yet what's happened. It only seems like two minutes ago that we were playing the ABC in Glasgow for our first single, doing a little acoustic tour, and now we're at the Hydro."

Referring to the fact that The Vamps are now selling out arenas, the guitarist added that it inspires him to push himself to 'get better' and to be the best he can be: "It's quite a big step up but I'm lucky in that I know the other guys are amazing musically, and there's nothing to worry about there - I just need to up my game to keep up."
