X Factor contestant threatens to kill Simon Cowell after he corrects her pronunciation

An X Factor contestant jokingly threatened to 'kill' Simon Cowell during her audition after he corrected her pronunciation.

A preview clip shows Maria Ellinas, a former Miss Great Britain contestant, perform Randy Crawford's classic song, 'Street Life', in front of the X Factor judges.

Cowell corrected her on her pronunciation of 'street' but Ellinas got it wrong throughout her audition much to the amusement of the other judges, Cheryl Fernandez-Versinin, Mel B and Louis Walsh.

When Cowell initially read her information he was impressed as he said: "It says here the record you would have a number one with is Street Life, I love that song!"

Ellinas was instantly excited to have impressed Cowell as she replied: "I’m going to sing you it Simon!

"I’m going to take a deep breath. I don’t want to get this wrong."

But the beauty was left embarrassed after he stopped her performance to point out that there was no 'H' in Street Life, after she pronounced it 'shtreet'.

As her audition ended she said: "I can’t do that song now. I’m going to kill you!"

Before the judges prepared to give their verdict on the wannabe singer’s performance, Cowell made a final quip. He asked her:

"Do you know Shtop?"

The single mum tweeted ahead of the show and said: "Worried o my lorddddddd".

The X Factor is on at 8pm on ITV1 on September 6 and 7.
