X Factor suffers technical problems

The first half hour of tonight's (November 12) X Factor suffered from technical glitches, resulting in clips from the early auditions being shown until 20.30 BST.

Millions of viewers tuned in expecting to see the sixth live studio round but found a highlights reel playing.

The show tweeted a message to followers: "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties.

"We'll tweet you with more news the moment we have it.

"The studio is ready and raring to go... but there is a technical failure at BT Tower.

"Rumour Control: No. Frankie has not taken the producers hostage."

The show finally came on air 15 minutes late with an apology from host Dermot O'Leary.

"It's going to be some show, let's get it started," he said.
