Kye Sones becomes fifth act to be eliminated from The X Factor

Kye Sones has tonight become the fifth contestant to be eliminated from the 2012 series of The X Factor.

The 30-year-old singer - who is mentored by Gary Barlow in the Over 28s category - performed Jason Mraz's 'I Won't Give Up' in the sing-off, while Rylan Clark chose to sing Des'ree's love song 'I'm Kissing You.'

The decision between both acts lay in the hands of the public after both were saved by two judges apiece. While Barlow and Louis Walsh chose to keep Sones in the competition, Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa voted in favour of Clark.

After turning to 'Deadlock', it was revealed Sones received the least number of public votes and therefore would be leaving the competition.

Sones' departure means that Barlow has just wild card contestant Christopher Maloney left to battle it out in the TV talent show.

Earlier on in the results show, the finalists sang 'It's Always A Good Time', Rita Ora performed 'Shine Ya Light' while No Doubt impressed with their newest single, 'Looking Hot.'
