Gary Barlow revealed on last night's (November 17) X Factor show that he would like James Arthur to win the competition.

Barlow stunned the audience after Arthur's performance with his revelation. Barlow is mentoring 'The Overs' category and only has Christopher Maloney still in the competition.

Arthur's rendition of Frankie Valli's 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' led Barlow to say: "Putting my category aside and I probably shouldn’t say this, I want you to win it."

The song was chosen as part of this weekend's 'Guilty Pleasure's theme. 

Arthur is being mentored by  Scherzinger who also still has Rylan and Jahmene in the competition

Barlow added that he loved everything about the artist before adding that if he was at home he would be voting for the youngster.

Scherzinger lost her grandmother on November 10. The former Pussycat Doll star attended her funeral with boyfriend Lewis Hamilton at her side.
