Union J leave The X Factor

Boyband Union J left The X Factor tonight - just shy of securing a place in next week's live final.

The four piece - comprising Josh Cuthbert, Jaymi Hensley, JJ Hamblett and George Shelley - received the least number of public votes, resulting in their departure from the show.

James Arthur, Christopher Maloney and Jahmene Douglas are all through to The X Factor live final next weekend.

Union J received mainly positive comments from the judges on Saturday night (December 1) for their two performances - Labrinth's recent No. 1 hit 'Beneath Your Beautiful' and ballad 'Already There' by Lonestar.

While their first performance was praised, judge Gary Barlow criticised their Lonestar rendition commenting: "It was a nice performance, good vocals, but it's extremely safe. It was a repeat from the first performance. I worry that you're not going to get enough votes, and we can't save you anymore."

Earlier on the show, X Factor judge Tulisa stepped onto the stage to perform a stripped back performance of her latest single 'Sight Of You'.

US songstress P!nk also wowed audiences with her debut X Factor appearance, performing a powerful rendition of her new track 'Try' from album 'The Truth About Love.'

Kylie Minogue, One Direction, Rihanna and Emeli Sande will all appear on next week's live final alongside the remaining three contestants.
