I can’t believe all the things I have already accomplished though! I’ve recorded my first original album with amazing producer Koby Israelite, mastered it at The Abbey Road Studios with Grammy award winner Geoff Poesche, performed at the Eiffel Tower, in the middle East and travelled around the world! On side projects I’ve been on a movie set with Brad Pitt, started to sell my paintings and produce my own tracks, and received a 5 star review at the Edinburgh Festival for my performance as Edith Piaf! I’ve met so many amazing people and love how we all support one another in our community, or should I say family’! Though she says that everything she went through made her who she is today, so she wouldn’t change any of it’, it hasn’t been a straightforward journey for her to establish herself as a singer/songwriter performing in venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Stadium or the renowned Cheltenham and Edinburgh festivals. Coming from a multicultural family with Italian and Spanish heritance, she knew very early on that her life would be dedicated to the arts, and especially music: 'I’ve known I was a singer since a very early age. My father was playing the guitar and writing stories, and since I was little I was influenced by this creativity: I was always dancing, acting, drawing…I remember my first role being Charlie Chaplin in a play at school when I was around seven years old, and I also remember winning a poem and illustration competition at around the same age. At the time I was blown away by classical music (especially Mozart’s requiem) and wanted to be an opera singer. I soon joined a choir and started to study violin at the Conservatoire'. A path that could have seemed so straightforward was in fact tinted by self confidence issues related to her image and abilities; a shyness and personal issues that would consequently affect her development in doing what she loved the most. In order to overcome those issues she started to develop her own inner world, that would prevent her even more from sharing her gifts. Having studied ballet, opera, violin and piano for many years and subsequently approaching different genres of music, Oriana was still trying to find a way to express herself, but in vain. France didn’t seem to be a country where making a living as an artist or as a performer is very encouraged, and she ended up in a place believing that it was all just a dream, and that dreams couldn’t come true. But her desire was strong, and although she didn’t know anyone in the music world, nor did she have any money, ‘when you really want it you always find a way’, she says. She started dancing in clubs and parisian cabarets in order to overcome her issues with her own image, a decisive move for the rest of her career: ' Performing almost naked in front of people has really helped me to overcome my insecurities and reach the next stage in my life: I don't know if I would feel as comfortable in my own skin today if I hadn't been through that!'. As a result, the opportunity for her to come to London soon presented itself and she found herself working on her first EP. ‘It was not easy in the beginning, I was just being told that I was not singing well enough, that my accent was too strong.. I was not feeling well, it was a really tough time.. I was working with a producer who would make me do over 100 takes for one syllabe!’ she says.
