‘Sandstorm’ is the first single from the forthcoming ‘Sundowner Sessions (Lockdown Diaries)’ album telling the story of one highly respected violinist’s nightly (80 of them!) performances to lift spirits during the lockdown period of 2020. Sarah is a highly regarded violinist, whose 25-year career includes touring and performing with such artists as Madonna, Annie Lennox, Rod Stewart, Brian Ferry, Adele, Oasis, Rihanna, Andrea Bocelli, Brian May, and countless others.

Having been performing at the highest level with the absolute best of artists, Lockdown also gave Sarah the opportunity to further develop herself into an artist in her own right. The Sundowner Sessions gave her just that opportunity. So Sarah set about creating, and arranging some of the best-known tracks in her own unique style, and with duo partner Lisa Rollin, creating original music to entertain the throngs of people that tuned in on social media to hear, and see her perform at 6:30pm, every night for 80 nights! They clamoured for more.

The results are amazing, and take you on a journey of the lockdown days in music and video, with music from Beethoven to Led Zeppelin, Mozart to Springsteen crossing all genres sprinkled with Sarah’s own love of Dance and Deep House, and jazz thrown in for good measure. This album is truly a labour of love.

As lockdown was slightly relaxed, Sarah was joined by her collaborator, friend, and duo partner: violinist Lisa Rollin on several of the sessions, adding another dynamic to the performances. They also had the time to work on writing and arranging original tracks which are included on the album.

Single Mum, Sarah says: ‘I was astonished at the superb feedback of people, and their anticipation of the next session, from here in the UK, across Europe, USA/Canada and even Australia and New Zealand (listening over their breakfast each morning!). This online community still continues to grow.’ The numbers grew to over 5,000 regular viewers all reacting so positively during that difficult period of our lives. It spurred me on to create more and more sessions culminating in over 80 of them! My creative juices and adrenalin fed off the community’s enthusiasm for what it was doing every night’

During the duration of lockdown, the repertoire covered a wide range of genres of music (Classical Crossover, Jazz, Deep House, Pop, Dance, Rock, Chillout, Celtic, Bossa etc), using improvisation and also writing her own original tracks along with her Duo partner Lisa Rollin as she went along.

As historical events unfolded, like the celebration of Easter Day, VE Day, the Thursday NHS ‘Clap for Carers and the death of Vera Lynn, Sarah was able to respond with just the ‘right touch’ of music, live, on that very day. On the day that we could be 2m apart, Sarah’s Duo partner Lisa Rollin, came to the garden and the Duo could then perform live on the sessions (2m apart!). Each gradual change in the lockdown rules, was visibly marked by the Sundowner Sessions’.

The result is a unique collection of music and a musical ‘diary’ of the lockdown.

During the past 12 years, Sarah has performed for a diverse range of artists and luxury brands and has extensively toured Europe and the UK. In 2012 she was invited to perform as part of an official performance for the 2012 London Olympics, Team GB closing party – a truly unforgettable experience. Brands she has performed for include Moet Hennessy, Relais Chateaux and Aston Martin. Sarah has also appeared at V Festival, Glastonbury, and Latitude and many more festivals.
