Tinie Tempah on new LP 'Youth': 'I did 100 songs to make a 14-track album'

Rapper Tinie Tempah has revealed that he had to cut a lot of songs while compiling the tracklisting for his new album, 'Youth'.

During an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra's Charlie Sloth, the 'Pass Out' star explained that the process is typically a lengthy one: "It takes a long time to make an album. A lot of people don't know this. You end up making two or three albums to make one album. I've done like 100 songs to make this one of 13/14 [tracks]."

He went onto add that this record, which is due for a March release, has more of a personal twist and will deal with themes relevant to his life: "Ultimately I'm a 28 year old black boy from south London who wanted to make it off rapping and I've got to the point now where I feel like it's time for me to just tell that story. It's going through all of the phases of being young, of being me in south east London growing up."
