Q - 4 stars **** The One To Buy-  Hello Hum is an album of infinitely shining, shimmering future rock music

The Line of Best Fit - contrasting, thought-provoking indie rock is the kind which transcends the scene it was birthed in and becomes a point of musical reference, a yardstick for which all other indie bands can be measured against

Mojo - Musically Wintersleep are now on par with Band of Horses, with engulfing waves of FM-friendly sound and the odd glimpse of Interpol's steely glare - 4 stars ****

NME - a glorious, crashing sound, pulsing outwards, destroying and caressing all it finds. Wintersleep are coming out of hibernation, wide awake and blinking

Artrocker - with just enough chops, heart, pop sensibility and rock and roll abandon in equal measure, it's little wonder people are falling over themselves to heap praise on Wintersleep - 4 stars ****

Rock Sound - lush melodies and a penchant for lyrical introspection that you just can't resist 8/10

Wintersleep has spent the last decade establishing, developing, and re-inventing their sound. Already a big deal at home in Canada the band won a Juno, the Canadian equivalent of a Brit Award for 2007’s Welcome To The Night Sky, (The Fly - a rich, layered effort full of lush melodies & hummable missives..great stuff) then bolstered their fan-base in the UK and Europe by touring extensively in support of 2010’s New Inheritors.

The band finally found some time to settle down during the Summer of 2011 to focus on their next endeavour. Co-produced and mixed by Dave Fridmann (MGMT, The Flaming Lips) and Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai), Wintersleep’s new album, Hello Hum, signifies a new chapter in the band’s history. Inspired by the member’s collective experiences, waking dreams, and musical experimentations, Hello Hum was released October 1st 2012 on Tom Kotter Records (TKC005).

Characterized by resonant harmonies, rich layers of elaborate instrumentation and ear-catching melodies, Wintersleep produces music that has the ability to grab listeners with its pop charm and keep them captivated with its subtle complexities. The new album, Hello Hum opens with Hum, offering a swirling, slow-building intro to the series of energetic tracks that follow. The upbeat In Came The Flood showcases the depth of the band’s sound, featuring melodic vocals atop a densely layered foundation of guitars, vocal harmonies, and driving percussion. From its first note, Nothing Is Anything (Without You) possesses the instant appeal of a pop tune, with a prominent guitar melody and toe-tapping rhythm. Smoke closes out the album on a softer note, allowing melodic vocals to shine over a subdued instrumental background and steady rolling drum beat.

Wintersleep has seen successful tours in North America, the UK, Ireland and Europe, sharing stages with Pearl Jam, Broken Social Scene, Wolf Parade, The Hold Steady and Editors and next up, Frightened Rabbit.
