Troye Sivan on first gay club visit: 'It was a very dodgy club, I was petrified'

Troye Sivan visited BBC Radio 1 (see photo on left) on Friday (April 22) whilst over in the UK as part of his Blue Neighbourhood world tour. He revealed that the inspiration for album track, 'Bite', came from his first ever venture into the gay club world. He said:

'I was petrified but so curious and excited at the same time.

'It was a very dodgy club that I went into and I went with my friends.

'I had such a good night and I wanted to capture that vulnerability, innocence and everything', he went on.

He recently admitted that coming out to his parents was the scariest thing he had to do but they were totally supportive, so he encourages his fans to come out.

In March he helped a girl tell her mother she was gay whilst they were both watching him perform.

As reported yesterday, Sivan told Attitude magazine how he felt when he saw two boys kiss on TV. He said

"When I was younger I saw two boys kissing on TV or something like that and I frantically changed the channel. It was really scary but just goes to show how important good representation in the media is because I remember those moments clearly.”
