Tupac biopic gets green lit

The much-anticipated film about Tupac Shakur’s life is to begin production shortly.

Morgan Creek, the studio behind the project, announced that they expect to start filming in New York, LA and Georgia this summer. Directed by Antoine Fuqua of ‘Training Day’ fame, the biopic will document Shakur’s turbulent life in the run up to his 1996 murder.

Afeni Shakur-Davis, the late rapper’s mother, will be an executive producer. She said in a statement: “I am confident that Morgan Creek will stay true to the common goal we share of depicting Tupac’s life in a way that will allow the world to see the authenticity of his artistry, his hopes, and his life goals.”

The film is currently being cast.
