The 42nd annual NAACP Image Awards, which honour people of colour in TV, music, literature and music, took place in Los Angeles last night.

Ten-year-old Willow Smith beat off stiff competition from B.o.B, Bruno Mars, Jason Derulo and Nicki Minaj to scoop the Outstanding New Artist award, while Usher was named Outstanding Male Artist and Mary J Blige, Outstanding Female.

John Legend and The Roots took home Outstanding Group and Outstanding Album for 'Wake Up!.' while Fantasia won Outstanding Song for 'Bittersweet.'
